A tale of two Northwest B.C. residents
TERRACE – Its a tale of two Northwestern BC residents. One who is seeing a booming business in the rental industry due to the LNG Canada project, and another who continues to worry about the environmental impacts on his towns airshed.
Fred Wilson has seen a shift in his truck rental business over the past few months – his main client has become those working on the LNG Project. Wilson typically rents to a variety of industry, and business has been steady through the winter.
While business is good for Wilson, Greg Knox with Skeenawild Conservation says his group is worried about air quality due to the way LNG Canada will burn a portion of the gas for the electricity required, resulting in nitrogen oxide which is a health pollutant and could lead to acid rain in the Kitimat – Terrace airshed.
Knox says there are some on his community of Terrace who are afraid to speak out publicly against the project as it is gaining momentum.
