Aboriginal Youth Conference celebrates culture

PRINCE GEORGE— Grade 7 to 10 Aboriginal students from School District No. 57 attended an Aboriginal Youth Conference at UNBC. It was the first conference in four years, and this year’s theme was ‘Empowering Our Youth’.

The event aims to celebrate culture in a safe space. School district 57 offers services to Aboriginal students throughout the year, but this is the biggest event they host.

Students had a chance to learn more about their culture through a variety of workshops throughout the day. Workshops included drumming, feather painting and gardening.
