PRINCE GEORGE — Police are seeking the public’s help in locating a sexual assault suspect.

The Prince George RCMP say the incident occurred at around 9 p.m. on the evening of Wednesday, May 1.

Police say a teenage girl was walking alone in the area of 6th Avenue and Winnipeg Street when a male approached her from behind and sexually assaulted her by grabbing her.

The female was able to break free and run to a safe location.

Investigators believe this to be a random act as they have not received reports of any similar incidents.

The suspect is described as white, 30 to 40 years old, six foot one, 200 pounds, with brown eyes, a crooked nose, clean shaven and wearing a black hoody with the hood up, grey sweat pants and brown work boots.

The suspect smelt of tobacco. Anyone with information is asked to call police.

In light of this incident, police are reminding the public to stay in well-lit areas when out and about, to stay in public areas, and whenever possible, to never travel alone.
