PRINCE GEORGE— Emilio Caputo and Raliat Abioye are the 2019 UNBC valedictorians. Both have a long list of accomplishments and are excited to celebrate with their fellow graduates.

Raliat Abioye- Valedictorian for the College of Science and Management

Raliat Abioye is the Valedictorian for the College of Science and Management.

Abioye developed her passions in research, mentoring, community service and leadership while studying at UNBC. Her research focused on RNA splicing- a field she says is important but needs to be researched more. Abioye says perseverence was necessary as she got through her undergrad- she hopes to share that along with celebrating the graduating class’ accomplishments during her Valedictorian speech.

“I want to take that opportunity as valedictorian to really validate and instill in my fellow students the importance of this accomplishment that we’ve all been able to achieve,” Abioye says.

Abioye hopes to continue her research through a Master’s degree at UNBC in Biochemistry. After that, she wants to pursue a career in medicine.
