PRINCE GEORGE – It’s Water Week and the City took time this afternoon to talk about wetlands.

The Hudson’s Bay Wetland receive a lot of storm water every day. That’s the water that in collected from rainfall.

There are over 800 culverts, 301 discharge point, four thousand manholes and 5,500 catch basins in the city, directing storm water winds up in different watersheds around the city. Those watersheds, like the Hudson’s Bay Wetland, have the ability to purify the water as it moves through, but not if too many pollutants, like motor oil or fertilizers, end up down those storm drains.
