Drug bust in Burns Lake

BURNS LAKE— An adult male was seen in the area of Highway 16 and 5th Avenue in Burns Lake today (Thursday) at 1 p.m. The male was known to officers from a previous matter and was observed breeching those conditions.

When Frontline Officers from Burns Lake and Houston Detachments attempted to arrest him, he fled on foot which prompted the police to engage in a foot pursuit.

Mounties caught the man a few blocks away and he was arrested without incident. Police discovered he had a significant amount of drugs, suspected to be cocaine, and a large sum of cash in his possession.

The male will be charged with breech of his conditions and will likely face further charges of drug possession as the investigation continues.
