Mosquito season well underway
PRINCE GEORGE – You may have already spotted a few depending on where you live. It’s mosquito season in Prince George and with an early snow melt prevention is already well underway.
Crews began air and water treatment last month at over 350 sites through the city in an effort to control the bugs. Home and property owners can also help put by taking care of any standing water on their property, “make sure that they dont have any tires lying around with standing water in them, change your pet water, make sure your leaves are out of the gutter and not holding any moisture in there,” says Claire Newell, Integrated Pest Management with the city of Prince George.
Newell adds so far lower water levels seem to be having an impact on the mosquito population, but it all depends on whether mother nature sends rain or not over the next couple of months.
