BURNABY, B.C. — The R-C-M-P say a tragedy in Burnaby underscores the importance of not leaving children unattended in vehicles as the weather heats up.
Police say a 16-month-old boy was declared dead in hospital yesterday after he was left unattended in a vehicle for several hours during the current heat wave.
Chief Superintendent Deanne Burleigh is not providing any further details of what she calls “an absolutely heart breaking event” but says no one has been arrested.
Burleigh say it’s essential that people driving children somewhere check to make sure the kids haven’t been left in a vehicle before they go off to do their business for the day.
