Council to see inventory of civic properties

PRINCE GEORGE – A Notice of Motion brought forward at the last Council meeting by Councillor Kyle Sampson has stirred up plenty of discussion around Chambers as well in the community.

The City owes a number of properties and leases, many to non-profit organizations on long-term leases. Specifically, Sampson’s Notice of Motion read:

1. That Council directs Administration to create a current list of;

a. A minimum of ten (10) City owned properties with existing buildings, structures, services and infrastructure that can or should be sold to the current tenant, or for future development.

b. A minimum of ten (10) undeveloped and under developed City owned properties that can or should be sold to the current tenant, or for future development; and

2. That above lists be returned to Council by the June 10th Regular Council Meeting.

The second request to have the report returned to Council was amended to July 15th meeting. But some around Council wanted to let City tenants know this is nothing more than a fact-finding venture, not a plan to evict those tenants.
