PRINCE GEORGE – The city’s French Immersion secondary program will stay put at Duchess Park. The decision comes after a consultation last year with parents and students, and a growing student population in District 57.
Student growth has the Board of Education making stronger rules surrounding catchment. A move to cap kindergarten in choice schools has also been approved moving into the 2019/2020 school year.
More consultation is expected next year with community members from Edgewood and Spruceland Traditional elementary schools, the district’s catchment and capacity report recommends sending grade 7’s to DP Todd rather than Duchess beginning September of 2020.
