PRINCE GEORGE – The city has installed one of the latest traffic control devices at a downtown intersection. A new solar-powered flashing LED stop sign now stands at the intersection of 4th Avenue and Vancouver street. The hope is, it will provide better awareness than the intersection’s static sign. What makes this sign stand out, is it’s flashing LED lights that can be seen from several blocks away. The costs to install the sign was around three thousand dollars. According to ICBC 69 percent of crashes involving pedestrians happen near intersections.
