Work well underway at CNC in Vanderhoof
VANDERHOOF – Work is well underway on the new Vanderhoof campus for the College of New Caledonia. The College has been located in the former hospital in that community for about 30 years. The decision to pull up stakes at the current site has left some CNC faculty and staff feeling nostalgic, as they were born in the building when it was the hospital. While the square footage of the new site is roughly the same as the current site, there will be a major change in programing.
“The main difference of course is one side will be dedicated to shop space, where we will have the opportunity to offer trades programing and the other side is going to be classrooms and office space,” explains Troy Morin, the Regional Principal for the Vanderhoof and Fort St. James campuses.
Another major shift will be in the use of technology. Currently there is one classroom that is geared up with the ability to host a class from multiple locations. The lack of Digital Delivery Instruction in CNC’s rural campuses has been challenging.
