City hosting celebration of the Spruce Kings

PRINCE GEORGE— The City is inviting everyone to welcome the Prince George Spruce Kings as they return from the National Junior A Championships.

Fans will hear from the Spruce Kings and have an opportunity to take photos with the players and their trophies.

It has been a historic season for the Spruce Kings. This is the first season a Prince George team won the Fred Page Cup (BCHL championship) or the Doyle Cup (B.C./Alberta championship).

The Spruce Kings advanced to the National Junior A Championship in Brooks, Alberta, but lost in the final to the host team.

The last Prince George hockey team to win a national championship was the Prince George Mohawks in the 1977-78 season.

The City will be hosting the event on Tuesday afternoon at 4 p.m. at the Prince George Conference and Civic Centre.
