Province investing in salmon conservation
BRITISH COLUMBIA— The Province is investing $5 million in the Pacific Salmon Foundation (PSF) for wild salmon conservation work.
The announcement was made as part of the first B.C. Wild Salmon Day last Thursday, as part of a collaborative effort by PSF and the B.C. government to raise awareness of the need to conserve the species.
“In B.C., wild salmon are part of who we are. Coastal communities, First Nations, ecosystems and local economies depend on healthy wild salmon stocks,” Premier John Horgan says. “Together with organizations like the Pacific Salmon Foundation, we are working to restore habitats that support wild salmon stocks in our province.”
