Continuous wildfire seasons prompt better preparedness for province

May 22, 2019 | 6:40 AM

BRITISH COLUMBIA–After back to back wildfire seasons that have left areas of the province burnt to a crisp BC’s Chief Spokesman for the wildfire service says it’s urged the province to better prepare for future fires.

Kevin Skrepnek says that a research innovation team was created to consider newly developed technologies to be able to predict, fight and mitigate wildfires.

With the BC wildfire budget increased to $101 million this year, Skrepnek says preparedness is something they’ll have more time to focus on before the season starts.
