PG Fire Rescue responds to Redwood Street blaze

PRINCE GEORGE — Prince George Fire Rescue made short work of a structure fire on the 1700 block of Redwood Street today (May 26).

Assistant Fire Chief Denis Poulin says fifteen firefighters from three halls responded at 2 p.m. and found smoke coming from the basement of the home.

“The fire was isolated to the kitchen area of the basement suite which was quickly extinguished by fire personnel,” he says. “There was one person in the suite at the time of the fire and got out safely.”

He adds another person in the upstairs suite also got out unharmed.

Poulin says the home did not have any working smoke detectors and says the cause of the fire has been deemed “accidental.”

Damages are estimated at $20,000.
