PRINCE GEORGE— Nechako Riverside Park officially opened last Friday. It features picnic tables next to the Nechako River and was constructed to be accessible for everyone.

The paths were designed to be wheelchair accessible, with a gravel terrain and a 5 per cent grade to reach the river.

A new parking lot was also constructed so vehicles don’t have to park on Foothills Boulevard.

The City has been working on the park since last May, with the hopes of making the area a more enjoyable place for everyone in Prince George. People who’ve been to the park since it opened say the area has been drastically improved.

“We have very few natural riverside parks that have nice access to the river. This was the perfect spot to rebuild because it used to be a bit of a party area, so we started the clean up.” Chris Bjorn, City of Prince George Supervisor of Parks

Nechako Riverside Park is open to the public every day from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m.
