BC Wildfire Service reminding about fire risks with ATVs

PRINCE GEORGE — All-terrain vehicles can cause wildfires. That’s a message from the BC Wildfire Service to users of the back-country, reminding them hot mufflers and exhaust residue can ignite flammable material like grass, especially in hot and dry conditions. Recommendations to reduce wildfire start risks are to stay on established trails, plan ahead, and bring a small fire suppression kit when heading out. Another counter to this, according to Forest Power Sports’ Norm Brown is that it is now mandatory for manufacturers to put a spark arrestor on their products.
