MACKENZIE – Mackenzie Pulp Mill Corporation was fined more than 81 thousand dollars last year for failing to maintain a recovery boiler and failing to comply with permit limits for bivalent sulphur compounds and particulate matter. The province releasing that information as part of its quarterly environmental enforcement summary. It details action taken by the ministry of environment and climate change on more than 17 hundred cases of pollution. The most frequently contravened acts were the Wildlife Act, Fisheries Act, and the Off-Road Vehicle Act. In total – polluters were charged more than 1 million dollars last year.
