PRINCE GEORGE— Project Learning Tree (PLT) Canada is a non-profit organization aiming to provide opportunities for people seeking employment in forestry and conservation sectors.

PLT Canada’s Green Jobs Manager Zac Wagman is biking across Canada with his brother Nick to meet with youth and promote the organization’s Green Job program.

Prince George is out of the way of the tour, but was a necessary stop. The Green Job program provides about 2,000 jobs to people aged 15 to 30. Nearly 200 jobs, or 10 per cent of the jobs across the country, are provided to people in the Prince George area.

“Typically when people ride across the country they tend to follow the Trans-Canada Highway. We’ve biked to Prince George because there’s so many green job opportunities in the area.” -Zac Wagman, PLT Canada’s Green Jobs Manager

Wagman will continue meeting with youth and employers until the end of September. His final destination of the 8,750 kilometre trek is St. John’s, Newfoundland.
