West Fraser announces temporary curtailments

VANCOUVER, B.C. — West Fraser has announced temporary one-week curtailments this month at five B.C. sawmills: Quesnel, Williams Lake, Smithers, Fraser Lake and Chetwynd.

In a news release, the company blames the decision on “sustained weak pricing in global lumber markets and high log costs.”

West Fraser says lumber production is anticipated to be reduced by approximately 30 million board feet.
