Prince George hosting program targeting issues surrounding girls and gangs
PRINCE GEORGE — Prince George is regularly brought up during police briefings in the Lower Mainland because of what’s described as “major issues going on with gang stuff”. That’s from a Her Time program release, which focuses on issues surrounding young girls’ involvement in gang activity.
Her Time is coming to do presentations for students at College Heights and DP Todd Secondary Schools and Heritage and Southridge Elementary Schools in the city on Thursday and Friday. A public presentation will also be held at College Heights Secondary at 6pm Thursday.
The initiative is run by Anisha Parhar and Sandy Avelar, Gang Crime Detectives from the Lower Mainland. Presentations include personal stories from women who have been subject to the world of organized crime. Knowledge on the dangers of gang lifestyles and exit strategies are also relayed.
