VERNON, B.C. — The latest in a long chain of ominous news for the B.C. Interior forestry sector. Tolko says it is extending downtime at its Armstrong and Soda Creek mills.
In a news release, Tolko Vice President Troy Connolly says the downtime will be extended by two weeks. Connolly blames the move on “poor market conditions and uneconomic log costs.”
Tolko announced downtime at Armstrong and Soda Creek in May, for the weeks of May 27 and June 3. The most recent addition will extend that downtime to the end of the week of May 17.
