City proclaims Elder Abuse Awareness Week

PRINCE GEORGE — Seniors gathered outside City Hall this morning (June 10) for the proclamation of Elder Abuse Awareness Week in Prince George.
The Prince George Council of Seniors says that 8 to 10 per cent of Canadian seniors experience elder abuse each year.
However, they also note that elder abuse is one of the most underreported crimes in Canada.
In fact estimates suggest only 20 per cent of elder abuse incidents are ever reported.
