PRINCE GEORGE — B.C.’s Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Claire Trevena boarded BC Bus North in Prince George this morning (June 11).

The bus service was launched last June after Greyhound cut back on the routes it covered in northern B.C. due to declining ridership.

She says the Province is working on a deal with the federal government to split funding on the service that connects northern communities.

The bus runs twice a week, as opposed to the daily routes Greyhound ran, but does so during more convenient times.

“I want to get a sense of things myself,” Trevena told CKPG Today. “What I’ve heard is people appreciate the service. People are really pleased to see the service, they’re pleased to see BC Bus North operating and they’re pleased that the government has stepped in to make sure people can have safe and affordable transportation.”
