Fort St. John, B.C. — Louisiana-Pacific Corporation announced today it will indefinitely curtail production of oriented strand board (OSB) at its facility in Fort St. John.
The closure will go into effect this August. The company blames the move on “challenging market conditions” which includes declining housing starts and high wood costs.
The Peace Valley OSB mill currently employs 190 people.
The announcement comes just days after Norbord announced it plans to indefinitely curtail production at its OSB plant in 100 Mile House. That move will cost 160 jobs.
