MACKENZIE – The MLA for Prince George-Mackenzie spent the day in Mackenzie, meeting with unions and others in that community in light of Canfor’s decision to curtail operations for six weeks, beginning July 17th.
“There’s a number of things there that government needs to take a real hard look at,” says Morris. “Government seems to have abandoned the forest-reliant communities we have in British Columbia.”
The BC Liberals say, so far this year, there have been “at least 88 weeks of operational downtime announced at various mill operations in BC. In addition, there have been two permanent closures, significant shift reductions and hundreds of millions of board feet curtailed.”
