NORTHERN BC–A Province-wide workforce aimed at employing women in the construction of the LNG Canada Project was announced Monday, June 17.

Your place, is the name of the four week long program that would help employ women in the project. Graduates from the program would have a direct line of employment in an entry-level position with JGC Fluor or one of its subcontractor on the LNG Canada site in Kitimat.

According to CEO of LNG Canada, Andy Calitz women represent just under five percent of a typical construction workforce and they want to change that.

“This lack of diversity is not a women’s issue, it is a workplace issue. We are missing out on a talented demographic who will enter careers in the skilled construction trades and help British Columbia prosper. We want women to know there is a place for them on our Project.”–Andy Calitz, CEO of LNG Canada
