WILLIAMS LAKE — Nesika Elementary School in Williams Lake was temporarily locked down this morning (June 18).

“School staff said that a female came to the school looking to see her children,” says Cst. Joel Kooger. “Due to family custody issues staff did not allow contact. As a result, the female became very argumentative and aggressive and then began yelling at staff and students.”

He says officers arrived quickly afterwards noting “they were advised by staff that the female had left the building in a vehicle. Shortly after officers located the female and instructed her not to return to the school and advised her of alternate ways to have court paperwork served.”

Kooger says police do not believe that there is any further risk to students at this time noting the school remains open under normal operations with exterior doors locked.
