Meals on Wheels looking for volunteers to help deliver food to elderly
PRINCE GEORGE–Meals on Wheels, a volunteer run program that helps deliver fresh meals to the elderly is “desperate” for volunteers.
Currently the program provides meals to around 80 clients, delivering 1,000 meals a month–more than double the volume from a year ago.
The higher volume and lack of volunteers has left current volunteers working past committed scheduled times and left the organization limiting the number of clients it accepts a week.
Volunteer drivers use their own vehicles, and donate their time and gas when they go out on delivery. The program Coordinator, Nicole Currie strives to make each route as geographically compact as possible.
