The 2 Spruce Kings that are in NHL Draft conversations
The NHL Draft is now less than 24 hours away and there’s at least one Spruce King who’s prepared to get a call from an NHL club this weekend.
Layton Ahac has been in the draft conversation all season. His midseason ranking from NHL Central Scouting was 112 among North American Skaters, but he jumped to 62nd by the end of the year. The North Vancouver boy wrapped up his two seasons with the Spruce Kings by picking up 32 points in 53 games and averaging a point a game during the playoffs.
Ahac’s year also included an appearance at the CJHL Top Prospects game, representing Western Canada at the National Junior A Challenge, and earning BCHL Second-Team honours.
Ahac will be attending Ohio State University next year and will most likely get drafted in the early rounds on Saturday.
