New Mr. PG exhibit coming to Exploration Place
PRINCE GEORGE— He may be one of the most familiar faces in Prince George. You’ve probably driven past him many times, but how much do you actually know about Mr. PG?
The idea for Mr. PG originated from Mayor Harold Moffat in the late 1950s, who wanted the community to have a mascot similar to Paul Bunyan to promote the booming forestry industry. Moffat approached local Rotarian and sawmill owner Hans Roine with the idea. The first Mr. PG was created in 1960 and was made entirely of wood.
Mr. PG has gained popularity over the years and has become an icon in Prince George. He has had a few different looks and has even been on some adventures outside of Prince George. All of Mr. PG’s history will be featured in the new exhibit.
