Family traditions being shared at Jo Bannock

PRINCE GEORGE— Jo Bannock never seems to have a shortage of customers at the Prince George Farmer’s Market.

Many Indigenous families have their own family bannock recipe, including the owner’s of Jo Bannock.

Sheldon and Colleen Joseph’s mother’s recipe is over 50 years old, and it has never been changed. It was originally going to stay within the family, but then they realized there were a lot of other people who would enjoy it.

The Josephs were one of the first families to sell Bannock in BC. They continue to sell Bannock to people in Prince George to keep the legacy of their parents alive, all while making connections with their customers.
