New degree program at UNBC could come at perfect time
PRINCE GEORGE — UNBC is launching a new degree – the Bachelor of Science in Conservation Science and Practice. It is a one-of-a-kind program in Canada and could have a big impact on some key issues in the north.
UNBC students will have a chance to focus on broad scale landscape conservation through a new degree being offered at UNBC. Canada’s Green University is holding true with the program, that has two majors in either Wildland Conservation and Recreation or Landscape Conservation and Management. The new four-year degree program will start this fall with class sizes of up to 50 students.
One of the ongoing issues with conservation is climate change. That is being felt especially at the recreational level. Some local groups, such as the Caledonia Ramblers, see the effects of climate change often and President Tim Gardner said this new program could not have come at a better time.
