QUESNEL — A Quesnel man is facing multiple charges following an incident in the Gold Pan City Wednesday.

North District RCMP say it all started when police received a report of an unwanted man at a business on Malcolm Drive.

The employee recognized 33 -year-old Nathan Doucette and was aware that he was under a court order not to be in this type of establishment and was asked to leave.

Doucette left before police arrived in a vehicle that police discovered was taken without the owner’s consent in Kamloops a few days prior.

A short time later police located the vehicle on Edkins Road and in attempt to escape from police, Doucette collided with a police cruiser then fled the area on foot.

Soon after he forced his way into a home, taking the owner by surprise and injuring that person in the process. The injuries are not considered to be serious.

Police managed to arrest Doucette at the home. He’s been charged with assault, failure to stop for police, break and enter and driving while prohibited.

He has been remanded in custody until his next court appearance on Tuesday July 16.
