CHILCOTIN COUNTRY–According to a news release from the Cariboo Regional District (CRD), the Cariboo Regional District Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) has been focused on damage assessments and is now shifting towards recovery, as water recedes.
The flood inundated hundreds of kilometres of the region, and a flood like this is not likely to happen again for another 200 years. The District says that all residents now have access in and out of their properties, and that road repairs will continue, with most road repairs ending this week.
Damage to residential homes is minimal, however there is significant damage to outbuildings, hayfields, irrigation channels, land and fencing. The CRD says it is too early to tell the magnitude of the damage.
