Go By Bike reflection of trends
PRINCE GEORGE – Organizers of the ninth annual Go By Bike Week are reporting a huge success.Nearly nine hundred riders participated in this year’s events, hosted by the Prince George Cycling Club. That’s a 35% increase from the previous year.
The Club says there is a growing trend in cycling, as the bikes themselves are better built to ride all season. The Club also believes the City’s recent move to add bike lanes and snow clearing crews efforts to keep them clear make cycling all year easier.
And the hope is to make Go By Bike Week even bigger, with next year being the event’s 10th anniversary.
“I’m going to be calling out to a few more places in the city and we’re hoping to get a little more funding so we can have one or two larger prizes. Funding is always an issue for non-profit organizations,” says Dane Greenwell, Coordinator, Bike to Work Week. “The draw from the momentum from this year is great and I am thinking we can probably put it over the top in our tenth year by having a big, big prize.”
