UNBC and CUPE, Local 3799 reach deal
PRINCE GEORGE – UNBC and CUPE have ratified a new collective agreement effective July 1 of this year until July 1 of 2022. CUPE Local 3799 represents about 400 employees at the university providing service in a variety of areas such as academic support, finance, facilities, student counselling and support staff at the Northern Sport Centre.
Highlights include a two percent compensation increase over a three-year term, access to training and development, and increased paramedical reimbursements.
“Our CUPE employees are valued members of the UNBC community and play an integral role in the daily operations at the University. I am pleased that both parties were able to reach a fair and equitable agreement that reflects the union’s interests while balancing our fiscal realities and strategic priorities,” said Dr. Daniel Weeks, president and vice-chancellor of UNBC.
The deal is retroactive to July 1, 2019.
