PRINCE GEORGE–The Canadian Red Cross will become the lead organization delivering Emergency Support Services in Prince George as of the fall.

The City of Prince George and the Canadian Red Cross signed the agreement on Monday, July 22nd in an attempt to enhance local emergency preparedness. Under the agreement the Red Cross will be able to provide Emergency Support Services for residents displaced from their homes in case of an emergency, much like in the 2017 and 2018 wildfires.

“Local residents as well as City staff who support emergency response will benefit significantly from the experience and expertise that the Red Cross brings.”–Mayor Lyn Hall

The service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and includes things such as food, lodging, clothing and other immediate needs for people displaced by emergency events for up to 72 hours.
