$5.6 billion petrochemical facility in the works for Prince George

A $5.6 billion proposed polyethylene (the most commonly used type of plastic in the world) facility was announced Wednesday. The plant would be located in a 300-acre site in the BCR Industrial Site. The facility would create up to 1,000 jobs along with another thousand in the creation of the plant. The company is preparing to enter a formal regulatory approval process.

Liberal candidate announced for Skeena-Bulkley Valley

Liberal Dave Birdi of Fort St.James has joined the race to replace outgoing NDP MP Nathan Cullen in Skeena-Bulkley Valley. Birdi says he’s committed to working with PM Trudeau to strengthen the middle class. He is one of four declared candidates in the riding. The federal election is scheduled for Oct.21.

Calogheros Acclaimed

Tracy Calogheros is running for the riding of Cariboo-Chilcotin, she ran for the same riding in the 2015 election and narrowly lost against Conservative candidate Todd Doherty. Calogheros says she is “honoured” to have been chosen to represent the community.

Lightning and thunder and not so fun blackouts

Monday nights storm left a total of 2,700 customers without power. Strong winds and trees touching power lines were to blame for the outages. BC Hydro had most customers electricity back up and running. By 11 am on Tuesday only 180 customers were without power.

9 cats abandoned in storage bins are ready for adoption

The 9 cats that were abandoned in plastic storage bins earlier this month at a vacant property are ready to be adopted. The cats were found emaciated, matted and covered in feces and urine. The cats have made quick recovery; anyone looking to adopt one is asked to visit the SPCA North Cariboo Branch.
