PRINCE GEORGE – “This event gets you out of the house.”

That’s how one senior, Carol, describes the seniors garden tour and luncheon at Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park.

Forty-six seniors from the different assisted living facilities are attending this year’s event. Typically, there are more, but the weather dampened the spirits from some. But not those who braved the weather for the tour and a burger, all of whom love the event, which is in its 14th year.

“I start organizing in the spring because, come spring, I know the seniors starting to think about this annual event,” says Maureen Cox, organizer of the event and member of the David Douglas Botanical Garden Society, which hosts it. “Apparently, they really look forward to it.”
