Sewer main break

Ruptured sewer pipe not likely to continue causing issues

PRINCE GEORGE — A sewer main break on the John Hart Bridge Tuesday night caused traffic delays for about five hours.

While the rupture could just be a one-off, it also has the City keeping an eye on other potential issues with infrastructure. The integrity of the pipe is in good condition and no future issues are expected.

There are plans to replace the pipe when the bridge deck is redone, but there is no timeline yet because the issue had nothing to do with the pipe itself.

Wil Wedel, Manager of Utilities with the City of Prince George, said ruptures are a reality of aging infrastructure in Prince George. He added the City is aware of these and continues to work to address them.
