PRINCE GEORGE– UPDATE: BC Hydro Community Relations Manager for Northern BC, Bob Gammer says the outage was caused by a burnt riser.

“A riser is a length of conductor that runs between the main power line and a transformer and something caused it to ignite and fail,” said Gammer. He says it is still unclear as to why the riser burnt, but isn’t unusual.

BC Hydro says the outage lasted just over an hour and affected 310 residents.
