Prince Georgian? Prince Georgite? What do you think people from PG are called?

PRINCE GEORGE— People from Calgary are Calgarians, people from Vancouver are Vancouverites- but what are people from Prince George called?

Each person in the city is unique, so putting one label on everyone is tricky.

It seems there isn’t a textbook definition for what people in the city should be labeled as. When we asked people what they think people in the city should be called, it left most stumped.

Some said Prince Georgite, some said PGers, but most thought Prince Georgians sounded the best. Even Mayor Lyn Hall didn’t have a confident answer.

“Somebody did say to me one day, ‘you’re a Prince Georgian’ and it took me by surprise,” Hall says.

“I guess if you use it enough, you folks in the media can start using Prince Georgians and see if it connects.”

Each person in Prince George has their own story. Some people didn’t like the idea of having a label.

Whether you’re a Prince Georgite, a Prince Georgian, or neither, there’s one thing citizens in this city all share in common- Prince George is a place they’re happy to call home.
