Trees given new life

Trees given new life as artwork

PRINCE GEORGE — Some trees outside Prince George City Hall have been given new life as pieces of local artwork – and all for a good cause.

The opportunity arose when the city had to remove some trees to make way for construction last spring on the parkade and Park House condo development across from city hall.

The spruce trees were moved and replanted at Duchess Park, while the elm and ash trees were turned over to community organizations such as the Prince George Wood Turners Guild.

In the months since, the guild has transformed the wood into bowls, vases and pens – 12 of which were donated to the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation.
