Nak’azdli – Within the boundaries of their lakeside community, the Nak’azdli’s Chief and Council are fighting the war against illegal drugs. In a public letter early this month, officials warned about illegal drug dealing and reached out to support those who need help with their addictions.

Nak’azdli is a small reserve on the shores of Stuart Lake. Around 700 residents live in this community that also shares a border with Fort St. James.

Community leaders have concerns that some of their youth are using illegal drugs. To help the fight against drugs, the chief and council have teamed up with the local RCMP.

According to other First Nations community leaders, the use of illegal drugs is a common theme in many communities across Canada.
