Open house tonight

PRINCE GEORGE – BC Housing, the City of Prince George and Northern Health are hosting a public open house at the Civic and Conference Centre from five to eight p.m. tonight to talk about a new housing project slated for First Avenue.

Members of the public are encouraged to check out the details.The project was quietly announced last month in which there will be 50 units of housing for those who are homeless. That is Phase One.

Phase Two will be another 50 units of affordable rental housing. Northern Health will be providing ground level health care services.

Northern Health says the goal is to integrate all of its services in downtown to that location, including the needle exchange currently on Third Avenue.

The City will be called on to facilitate the next steps, which will be re-zoning and amendments to the Official Community Plan. City Manager Kathleen Soltis says the aim is to have that work completed by the end of this year.
