PRINCE GEORGE– UNBC moved up in scores in the latest edition of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.

The university finished in the group ranked between 801st and 1,000th out of almost 1,400 universities from 92 countries considered in the report. This is the third year in a row that the post-secondary has ranked in the top five percent of universities in the world and is the only Canadian university of its size to make the grade.

UNBC finished in the group ranked between 801st and 1,000th out of almost 1,400 universities from 92 countries in the report.

The school saw growth in all five categories that Times Higher Education considers: teaching, research, citations, industry income and international outlook. The biggest jump, however, came in citations, which is used to measure the influence research conducted at UNBC is having on institutions around the world.

“It is a tribute to our devoted faculty, dedicated students, diligent staff and committed supporters that UNBC continues to excel on the world stage,” says UNBC President Dr. Daniel Weeks. “It is fabulous to see UNBC increase its score in every category Times Higher Education uses to measure elite global universities.”

Research was the schools strongest category, for the second year in a row. UNBC also scored higher in teaching, which measures things from student-to-faculty ratio, the percentage of faculty with doctorates, and the university’s reputation for excellence in teaching.

The other two categories saw modest gains.
