Why you might see smoke and closed roads at YXS

PRINCE GEORGE–If you see smoke, and closed roads near YXS in the upcoming weeks, don’t be alarmed.
Airport firefighter training will be taking place at the Prince George Airport over the next few weeks, and will have controlled fires burning as part of training. As for road closures, paving will have Ellis Road–the main road to the airport terminal–will undergo milling in preparation for paving, starting Wednesday, September 18. Service roads Altimeter Road and Beacon Road, as well as the extension to the airport’s long-term parking lot will also be paved.
Drivers are asked to use caution when driving in the area and pay attention to signage.
