PRINCE GEORGE – Organizers are putting the final touches on the Terry Fox Run this coming Sunday. It kicks off in the Exploration Place parking lot and carries on through Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park. Ryley Newman is organizing this event and says the history of it is significant.

“Well to be honest, that’s a huge reason why I decided to get involved. Just the history of the event here in Prince George means so much to Prince George and the legacy of Terry Fox.”

The “history” and “legacy” he refers to date back to September of 1979.

Before he embarked on the Marathon of Hope, Fox, his brother Darrell, and Terry’s best friend Doug Alward ran in the Prince George to Boston Marathon. Fox used the run to gauge whether he could do the Marathon of Hope the following year.
